General Questions

Who may use this service?

Only clients submitting citizenship, immigration or Access to information applications may pay their application fees online.

I prefer not to pay my fees online. Are there other methods of payment I may use instead?

Please consult your application guide for acceptable methods of payment of fees and further instructions.

What happens after my payment has been approved?

You will need to print a copy of your official IRCC receipt. You must then attach the copy of your receipt to the application before sending your application package to the appropriate case processing centre.

What should I do if the amount of the receipt is not enough?

If there's been an increase in the cost of the service you asked, you can pay online the difference.

Underpayments

If you want a refund of your receipt and pay back the exact amount, you must send a refund request with the copy of the receipt by email IRCC.FINRefunds-RemboursementsFIN.IRCC@CIC.GC.CA.

The request must include your name, current address, receipt number, the date of the transaction, amount and reason for the refund. If you do not have the receipt number, we will need the first two and the last four digits of the credit card used and its expiration date. You will also have to make another payment for the correct amount.

What should I do if the amount of the receipt is too much?

You must send a refund request of the overpayment amount with a copy of the receipt, by email at IRCC.FINRefunds-RemboursementsFIN.IRCC@CIC.GC.CA. The request must include your name, current address, receipt number, the date of the transaction, amount and reason for the repayment.

If you do not have the receipt number, we will need the first two and the last four digits of the credit card used and its expiration date

What do I do if the amount on the receipt is correct but I have checked the wrong service?

The receipt is not linked to a specific service. If the receipt is for the correct amount, you can submit it with your application regardless of the service you checked when you made the purchase online.

How do I access my previous payments made via the online payment tool?

You can access previous payments made via the online payment tool by logging-in with the e-mail address and password you used to register with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's Online Services.
